Author: Maggie Stiefvater
Synopsis: (from Maggie’s website)
The conclusion to #1 bestselling Shiver trilogy. In Shiver, Grace and Sam found each other. In Linger, they fought to be together. Now, in Forever, the stakes are even higher than before. Wolves are being hunted. Lives are being threatened. And love is harder and harder to hold on to as death comes closing in.
First of all, let me just say that Maggie is a brilliant writer. I savored every minute of reading this final installment to The Wolves of Mercy Falls series. I allowed myself over a week to read it, little bits at a time never really wanting to get to the end both out of fear (fear of how it would end) and anticipation (also for how it would end).
I really enjoy Maggie’s writing style, especially how she switches at just the right times between characters as the story progresses. “Hearing” the story told from different perspectives builds up the suspense and plays right into the story line.
The whole book is a roller coaster of emotions. I actually had to stop reading to catch my breath about 5 chapters in…it was *that* intense! I would love to know how she so easily captures all the different emotions ranging from love, anger, surprise, sadness, extreme sarcasm, and fear all in one book. (Is sarcasm an emotion? It sure feels like it when one can write it so well!)
There is really very little I can say about this book without giving away any spoilers other than the character development was fantastic, the story was perfect, and the ending… well, I cannot say anything about the ending now can I.
Well done, Maggie!
