  1. Becky says:

Chapter 28: Alex noticed how perfect and exact everything in the house. It shows Brittany’s mom’s obsession with perfection.
Chapter 29: Brittany and Alex have already been vulnerable with each other. She trusts him and lets him in. She doesn’t trust her friends and shuts down when they get to her home. I think she needs to reevaluate her friendships.
Chapter 30: Not all of the teachers are against him and judge him solely on his gang membership. Sometimes teachers are on his side.
Chapter 31: Brittany loses some of her perfect image when she gets on that motorcycle. Alex’s house is more personal and lived in while Brittany’s is more of a museum.
Chapter 32: I think Mrs. Fuentes’ reaction causes Brittany to take a step back from Alex. It makes her question what she’s doing with him.
Chapter 33: I didn’t laugh, but I thought it was a sweet gesture.
Chapter 34: Brittany will lose her perfect image. She call Isabel for support because she knows that she won’t gossip and already knows about the attraction to Alex.
Chapter 35: Alex is going to owe Hector something big. He’s going to have to choose between the gang and Brittany, and this just made it more difficult.

  2. Donna says:

Chapter 28: I guess her mom is a good house cleaner! Either that or he means that the house is so pristine that dust wouldn’t “dare” live there.
Chapter 29: I love how he shows just how caring his heart is when he plays with her.
Chapter 31: I think that there is a huge difference between their houses, especially their mothers.
Chapter 32: She is really disappointed by his moms reaction.
Chapter 33: That was a really awkward moment, huh!
Chapter 34: Colin is an ass. I am glad she finally ditched him.
Chapter 35: Oh, I think this was a really sad moment. I really wish he had called Brittany or anyone else. Owing a gang member a favor is not going to be good.

  3. Megan says:

Chapter 28: Alex gets a glimpse inside Brittany’s house “Dust wouldn’t have the nerve to land on their floors or counters”.
I think he means that it is too clean. That the overly clean appearance is a sign of something being off.

Chapter 29: Gang member with a heart of gold – playing checkers with Shelley. But, when Brittany’s friends show up, she changes. What are your thoughts on this chapter?
Alex not batting an eye when he meets Shelley just melts my heart. It shows that he is the right man for Brittany. And when she doesn’t let her friends in it shows that they are not really her friends. Shelley is Brittany’s life, her family, the most important thing to her. Her not introducing her sister to her friends shows that she doesn’t trust them.

Chapter 30: Alex learned a big lesson in this lesson. What was it?
His line at the end of the chapter seems to make me think that he’s learned that no one really has it easy. There is always some mess that people mire themselves in.

Chapter 31: What’s the biggest implication of Brittany getting on that motorcycle? What are the differences between Alex’s house and Brittany’s, other than the obvious?
By getting on the bike Brittany is showing Alex that she trusts him. She is also showing everyone else that she doesn’t care if she’s seen getting on the back of his bike. Alex’s house shows the love that his family shares and Brittany’s doesn’t.

Chapter 32: What does Mrs. Fuentes’ reaction do to Brittany?
It upsets her and leaves her feeling like Alex must feel around Brittany’s mom- unwanted and unwelcome.

Chapter 33: Did you laugh at Alex & Colin both trying to pay for Brittany’s lunch?
Yeah. Boys are so silly. It was male territory marking behavior.

Chapter 34: Brittany finally gets the courage to ditch Colin? What will the price be? Why does she call Isabel for support?
I’m glad she ditched him and I think she calls Isabel because her “friends” wouldn’t understand.

Chapter 35: What do you think the fall-out from having Hector bail Alex out of jail will be? Will this be a deal breaker for his relationship with Brittany?
Alex owing Hector a favor is going to cost him something big. It will put him in a bad situation. I don’t think it will be a deal breaker because she trusts him and knows the real Alex.
